Delaware’s Better Business Bureau announced the recipient of the 2021 Edward M. Rush Sr. Memorial Award on October 7.
This year, the award for a family owned and operated business went to SeaScape Property Management and the Nichols family.
SeaScape is a third generation family business made up of hardworking autodidacts. Based in Lewes, the company is entering its 17th year of operation and retention rates can be directly linked to its customer-centric mindset. Business leaders adapt their practices to the communication needs of their customers, and as they see their customer base growing, their strategy evolves to adapt. Because the foundation of the company is based on their family values, their processes and procedures are proactive and engaging.
Launched in 2002 by Barry Nichols, this year’s winner of the Rush Award is a property management company that treats its clients like they treat their families. Barry’s sons and current owners, Chris and Doug Nichols, often take pride in being the first to know about guests and residents. With this in mind, they become a trusted part of the community.
SeaScape Property Management embodies the spirit of small town living – drawing on responsible local talent who care about the needs of their neighbors. By setting the bar high when it comes to trust, availability and fairness, they offer clients a unique property management experience.
This award was established in 1993 by the family of Edward M. Rush Sr. in honor of the high standards he set for family businesses. In 1963, Rush established Rush Uniform and built a legacy of family involvement in the business. During his life he was a leader in business, civic, political and religious organizations.
The award is presented annually to a Better Business Bureau accredited family business that exemplifies the ideals of community and civic service. Edward M. “Mike” Rush Jr. passed away in 2020.
