Washington DC – The District of Columbia’s Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) has announced that July 19 and 20 will be the official dates for the 2022 Annual Property Tax Sale. The tax sale will be held at the office of the District of Columbia. agency located at 1101 4th Street SW, 2nd Floor, Washington, DC, 20024 on both dates from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., or until all properties are advertised. for this day are sold.
A list of properties by parcel, square, suffix and lot number, with registered owner’s name and amount of unpaid tax will be available on the OTR website on June 22. This information will also be published in The Washington Times June 23 and Washington Informant June 22 and 23.
OTR will host two webinars, via WebEx, to explain tax sale procedures to potential bidders. Although registration for the seminars is not mandatory, anyone interested in participating in the annual tax sale is encouraged to attend the tax sale seminars to learn essential information about the tax sale process.
The 2022 Tax Sale Seminars will be held as follows:
- Wednesday, June 29: 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday, June 30: 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The registration period for Tax Sale seminars is open from June 6 to June 24. The instructions for registering for a seminar are as follows:

To note: A Webex invitation link will be sent to the email you provided during registration one day before the scheduled event. Please also note: A person with a communication disability requiring an interpreter must submit their request through MyTax.DC.gov by June 22 for the June 29 session and June 23 for the June 30 session.
Tax Sale Registration:
Registration for the Tax Sale is mandatory, and will begin on July 6 and remain open until the last day of the sale. Anyone planning to participate in the annual tax sale must also complete Form FR-500, Combined Business Tax Registration Application, before registering. The form is available on the OTR portal, MyTax.DC.gov. Please note: A selling fee of $200.00 will be added to each property at the time of sale.
OTR has sent a notice of default to notify affected owners of the tax sale. The notice can also be viewed by visiting MyTax.DC.gov under the “Billing History” section. A full list of tax sale notices can also be viewed here.
